Attending the final game of this year’s Entertainers Basketball Classic last night at Rucker Park, Fabolous and Swizz Beatz showed up in support of the Breakout Camp kids and the release of the Reebok Question Mid #1 Draft Pick. During his time there, Fab chopped it up with The Source about Allen Iverson’s forthcoming retirement from the NBA, his album and more. On the topic ofLoso’s Way 2, he reveals that the majority of it is done and that Ryan Leslie and Pharrell have been added to the mix.
Yeah man, am tightening it up. I was almost at a final pivotal point of the project in trying to wrap it up, but I bumped into my guy Ryan Leslie, who wasn’t on the project yet, so now we getting in the studio and coming with some stuff. I think everybody knows the chemistry that we have, and the kind of music he makes with that organic New York feel to it, so I really wanted him to be a part of this project. Also Pharrell, he’s got a new hunger again for hip-hop, so he came to me and said ‘yo we gotta get in again,’ so am gonna go check him out as well, and lock it down, and get this project out to the fans.

Before skipping out, Fab was asked about Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse. You know, the one that had the Brooklyn rapper asking if a studio was openimmediately after it leaked? Well, it turns out Mr. Jackson received some advice and has decided to hold out (for now).

That’s a hot topic on the market, and when I first heard I was gong to address it on the surface of what it was, somebody from out of New York claiming they the “King of New York,” but I took my time and I spoke with some OG’s, I researched it a little bit and got some more history behind it. Also, how everybody jumped into it for an intention play would change the situation as well, so a lot of guys stepped in and said their peace, but you also saw a lot of guys who were mentioned on the song, or who you would expect to have responses to the song, really didn’t take that approach, but am gonna tell you one thing that an OG told me, he said “if you do respond, make it work for you, make it come on your time, and not just like you trying to feed the twitter fans with a freestyle.” So I got that in the back of mind, so you might hear something eventually…
